Training

A summary of our regular training groups

The club organises four regular training sessions a week:
Monday and Wednesday evenings
Thursday and Friday mornings

We use Richmond Park all year round (except when the park is shut for culling etc). Running at night in the winter is possible as there is enough light to safely run along the park roads which are of course closed to traffic then. Alternative arrangements will be posted on this site when applicable.

Monday Evening, 7:30pm

Sheen Gate (Richmond Park) at the south end of Sheen Lane. Find it here on Google Maps

This session is a social run where runners generally run in a group of their own ability. The runs are normally between 3.5 and 7.5 miles. Newcomers are welcome and will be asked on arrival on what they think their capabilities are, and one of the regular runners will be designated to keep an eye on that runner. A club runner will always be present at the back of the group to ensure that nobody gets lost or left behind.

Wednesday Evening, 7:30pm

Sheen Gate (Richmond Park) at the south end of Sheen Lane. Find it here on Google Maps

Wednesday evenings are organised with a more structured approach, we have a coached running session in Richmond Park. Training is usually led by one of the club UKA qualified coaches and is aimed at building speed and strength whilst being inclusive for runners of all abilities. On seven Wednesday evenings during the summer months, our Wednesday evenings are moved to the track at Barn Elms and the session is led again by club coaches.

Thursday Morning, 9:15 am

Robin Hood Gate car park, Richmond Park. Find it here on Google Maps

We meet each Thursday morning for an up to 5K run on Wimbledon Common. Anyone is welcome to attend this session. There is no set speed and the athletes run at what can be classed as a 'social' pace.

Friday Morning, 9:50 am

Pembroke Lodge car park, Richmond Park. Find it here on Google Maps

A mixed group, of mainly, but not restricted to, mothers with children in school, meeting each Friday morning at 9:50 a.m. in the Pembroke Lodge car park TW10 5HX, for a run of between 3 and 4.5 miles in Richmond Park or the Thames riverside. This is a social group of runners with no pressure on ability. New runners are more than welcome (everybody has to start somewhere) and time will be taken to accommodate them.
