Sheen Shufflers meet on a Monday and Wednesday evening; and Friday mornings. We use Richmond Park all year round (except when the park is shut for culling etc). Running at night in the winter is possible as there is enough light to safely run along the park roads which are of course closed to traffic then. Alternative arrangements will be posted on this site when applicable.
As of February 2014, Sheen Shufflers introduced a Junior section to the running club aimed at 7-15 year olds. This group meets every Sunday morning at Barn Elms Running Track, Queen Elizabeth Walk, Barnes, SW13 9SA at 9am from the beginning of March till the end of October. The session is charged at £5 per child. More information on the Junior section can be found at www.sheenshufflersjuniors.co.uk or e-mail email@example.com.
On a Monday evening, starting at 7.30 p.m. from Sheen Gate of Richmond Park, there is a social run where runners generally run in a group of their own ability. The runs are normally between 3.5 and 7.5 miles. Newcomers are welcome and will be asked on arrival on what they think their capabilities are, and one of the regular runners will be designated to keep an eye on that runner. A club runner will always be present at the back of the group to ensure that nobody gets lost or left behind.
On a Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m., from Sheen Gate, we normally have a coached running session in Richmond Park. Training is led by one of the experienced members of the club and is aimed at building speed and strength whilst being inclusive for runners of all abilities.
The Friday Morning running consists of a mixed group, of mainly, but not restricted to, mothers with children in school, meeting each Friday morning at 9:50 a.m. in the Pembroke Lodge car park TW10 5HX, for a run of between 3 and 4.5 miles in Richmond Park or the Thames riverside. This is a social group of runners with no pressure on ability. New runners are more than welcome (everybody has to start somewhere) and time will be taken to accommodate them.
During the winter cross-country season and at other times there are also Saturday morning track or speed sessions which are advertised in advance on the Sheen Shufflers Web site.
On eight Sundays between November and February Sheen Shufflers compete in the Thames Valley Cross-Country League. Meeting for departure to club races is generally between 9-9.30 a.m. Details will be posted on this site. On other Sundays, particularly during the winter, longer runs may be organised as many club runners compete in spring events e.g. London Marathon. These normally start anytime, depending on who is arranging the session, between 8-10 a.m.
